The size, without the guesswork.

Pixel dimensions equal inches multiplied by PPI. A 4 × 6 inch photo at 300 PPI is 1200 × 1800 px. Enter decimal inches for other print sizes. JPG and PNG exports include the selected resolution information.

How to prepare your photo

  1. Choose your photo and enter its intended width and height in inches.
  2. Set PPI, then check the pixel equivalent and crop.
  3. Export JPG or PNG. In your print dialog, choose the same paper size and turn off unwanted fit-to-page scaling.

Does changing PPI improve image detail?

No. PPI relates pixels to print size. Enlarging a small source creates more output pixels, but it cannot recover detail that was never captured.

Why can my printer still produce a different physical size?

The print application may override resolution metadata or scale to paper margins. Check its paper size, actual-size setting, and borderless options. Use JPG or PNG rather than WebP for PPI metadata.
