Can I crop a portrait or landscape to a square?

Yes. The crop stays square while you move or resize it. Some of the original composition will be left outside the selection.

Will a larger square look sharper?

Increasing the output pixels cannot restore missing detail. If the selected crop is smaller than the output, UploadFit shows an enlargement notice.
